I don't know a lot about the Japanese culture, but you make me feel like I do! :) I thought I'd be lost but I was able to feel the differences and similarities between our culture and theirs. Not that it has anything to do with it, but my Mom had a dear friend in Japan named Masami, so when I saw your use of the name it made me smile remembering her. She was a calligraphy teacher and did beautiful work.
